A Handsome CWC Automatic Field Watch in Superb Preowned Condition with a Striking Dial and Attractive Tritium Lume
Cabot Watch Company (CWC) was founded in 1972 by Ray Mellor, a former Hamilton distributor who stepped in when Hamilton ceased supplying the British Ministry of Defence. CWC went on to become one of the longest-serving suppliers of military watches to the UK armed forces, producing timepieces for the Royal Navy, RAF and British Army. Built to strict MoD specifications, CWC watches earned a reputation for toughness, legibility and reliability in active service.
Whats on Offer
A strong example of the classic CWC field watch, but rare to find with an automatic movement. This piece captures the utilitarian charm that has made CWC such a favourite among military watch enthusiasts. The rich black dial features clear Arabic numerals, a practical date aperture at 3 o’clock and the circled “T” beneath 12, denoting tritium lume. The lume has aged evenly across the hour plots and sword hands, giving the watch a warm, cohesive vintage character. A central needle second hand adds to the clean, functional layout. Housed in a well-preserved stainless steel case and paired with a comfortable textile strap, this is a robust, wearable tool watch with genuine military DNA and everyday appeal. Case back engravings: 74.141ST 13997.
