Fishtail" Selenite

One of the more "fun" mineral varieties out there is the aptly named "Fishtail" Selenite form of Gypsum. From the famed Naica locality in Mexico, this large and impressive expansive specimen consists of larger 'tail' spikes rising out of a matrix covered with numerous lesser crystals that all exhibit the special shape and form that gives this variety its nickname. While not an uncommon material, fine specimens of the unique white mineral are not readily available. This rather sizable example exhibits only minor nicks, and the condition, therefore, must be considered excellent for a piece of this size of such a soft material.
